14.11.2014

MOSCOW, NOVEMBER 14, 2014. PIR PRESS – “We are glad to present to you the first issue of PIR Center’s information-analytical bulletin, Yaderny Kontrol, in an updated format. After 457 issues, it seemed difficult to come up with something new, but we still dared to experiment with the form and content – the result is before you.  In “Nuclear Dossier” we gathered the most important news from the past month, the section “Opinions” provides actual first-hand information, and “Analysis” examines key issues in depth,” – Andrey Baklitskiy, Editor of the Yaderny Kontrol bulletin.

On November 6, 2014, subscribers received issue #1 (458), November 2014 of the PIR Center’s information-analytical electronic bulletin, Yaderny Kontrol (in Russian). Production of the newsletter began in 2000, and since then Yaderny Kontrol (Nuclear Control) has unfailingly supplied readers with thorough, detailed information and analysis in the sphere of nuclear nonproliferation, arms control, nuclear security and development of nuclear energy.

Starting from November of 2014, Yaderny Kontrol is distributed in a new format: the newsletter became monthly; it received a new, modern cover and became much more analytical.

In the words of the newsletter Editor, Andrey Baklitsky: “After 457 issues, it seemed difficult to come up with something new, but we still dared to experiment with the form and content – the result is before you.  In “Nuclear Dossier” we gathered the most important news from the past month, the section “Opinions“   provides actual first-hand information, and “Analysis” examines key issues in depth.”

The main subject of the November issue became the premonition of the approaching changes. On the threshold of the date of completion of negotiations on Iran’s Nuclear Program, the Iranian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia, Mehdi Sanaei says that the window of opportunity is still open (in Russian). The Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, Michael Lysenko explains that, despite the cooling of relations between key global players, the development of peaceful nuclear energy is more lasting than is any political situation (in Russian). The Chairman of the PIR Center Executive Board, Evgeny Buzhinsky, discusses the complicated future of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (in Russian). The Director of the Center for Arms Control, Energy and Environmental Studies, Evgeny Miasnikov comments on the status of the arms control regime in general (in Russian).

The first issue of the newsletter in its new format is available on the PIR Center website (in Russian).
