“Broad public discussion of the IANA Stewardship Transition has demonstrated remarkable efficiency of the multistakeholder model. It was a challenging process that took quite a while, the stakeholders exchanged their opinions – but we have succeeded and it proves that the multistakeholder model functions successfully. The procedures that the community managed to go through during IANA Stewardship Transition may also be useful to take on the problems in other areas of international politics and security,” – Mikhail Yakushev, Vice President for Stakeholder Engagement in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, ICANN.

"Rapidly growing anti-nuclear coalition, which includes countries officially supporting the Humanitarian pledge or the statements on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons, deserves to be substantively studied both theoretically as a stark example of several informal associations of states within the framework of an international treaty, and practically, as an important international relations factor of nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament", — Alyona Makhukova, PIR Center's Research Fellow.

“Everything that occurs within the framework of the OSCE in matters of international information security, belongs to the sphere of confidence building measures, i.e. all of this, by definition, should be considered as military issues. However, for some reason this fact is often overlooked. And it is overlooked in vain. A factual acknowledgement by the OSCE member states of the existence of wars in cyberspace (and the use of information techniques) in modern international relations and a desire to carry out these wars as humanely as possible, ‘building confidence’, stems from that fact” — Alexander Fedorov, PIR Center Advisory Board Member.

“The humanitarian rhetoric has led to polarization in the NPT review process. A group of states with more radical approach regarding the nuclear disarmament is ready to delegitimize the possession of nuclear weapons through additional legal instruments. They have separated from a  wider group of states, which support increased pace of disarmament but are not ready for such drastic actions” — Alena Makhukova, PIR Center's Research Fellow.
