What we see in front of our eyes and what should be at the centre of our thinking is, in telepgraphic style, about the sources of power and influence and what stems from it, the world order. Most analysts have reason to conclude that watching world politics makes experts more and more disappointed and sceptical. Liberals and constructivists are spreading their views in think tanks and academia while the corridors of power, particularly in the leading powers of the world, are full of offensive structural realists. The spin doctors are there to package the message and create the impression that political actions backed by considerations of maximizing power and influence are actually underlined by noble considerations of moral high ground. The influence of think tanks and academia are more on the spin doctors than on those who take the decisions.
