PIR Center carefully treats the creative and scientific heritage of Soviet and Russian diplomats. In 2022, PIR Center began preparing the publication of two books within PIR Library Series – selected works by Roland M. Timerbaev and Gennady M. Evstafiev devoted to the problems of nonproliferation and arms control.
In addition, by the 100th anniversary of Roland M. Timerbaev in 2027, it is planned to publish materials from the archive of the great Russian diplomat, as well as memoirs of colleagues, friends, family members about him.
Also, in 2023, on the 85th anniversary of the birth of Gennady M. Evstafiev, PIR Center prepared and published a report “New nuclear Nine? Assessment of threats to the proliferation of nuclear weapons in the world” edited by Sergey D. Semenov, PIR Center Research Fellow, and Dr. Vladimir A. Orlov, PIR Center Founding Director.
The report is based on methodological approaches developed during the preparation of the Russian Intelligence Service reports “A new challenge after the Cold War: the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction” in 1993 and “The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons. Problems of extension” in 1995 under the guidance of Gennady M. Evstafiev.
To work on both books, the Commission for the Scientific Heritage of Gennady M. Evstafiev and the Commission for the Creative Heritage of Roland M. Timerbaev were formed. In addition, in memory of Gennady M. Evstafiev, PIR Center established an annual competition for the best research work in the field of international security.
