On May 15, PIR Center will hold an expert seminar on “Outcomes of the Preparatory Committee Meeting for the NPT-2026 Review Conference and the 30th Anniversary of the Indefinite Extension of the NPT: Assessment and Significance” in a hybrid format

🔥 On May 15, 2025, PIR Center jointly with MGIMO University will hold an expert seminar on the outcomes of the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) meeting for the NPT-2026 Review Conference and the 30th anniversary of the NPT indefinite extension. During the event, experts participating in the third session of the PrepCom (taking place from April 28 to May 9, 2025) and representing various institutions: the United Nations, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and PIR Center will share their assessments. In particular, speakers at the expert seminar will be: Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Founding Director, PIR Center; MGIMO University Professor, Academic Director of MA Program International Security; Mr. Andrey Baklitskiy, Senior Researcher WMD Program, United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR), Geneva (Switzerland); Ms. Alexandra Zubenko, Consultant, PIR Center; Intern, United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, (UNODA), New York (U.S.); and others.

⚡️ MGIMO University will host the event, which will take place on May 15 from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM (Moscow Standard Time) in Hall 9. For participants unable to attend in person, an online access will be provided. The seminar will discuss the key results of the Preparatory Committee’s work, as well as the significance of the indefinite extension of the NPT for international security and its role in preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons.
