Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 1993-1997, he was Counselor, Minister Counselor, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand. In 1998-1999, he took the post of Deputy Director of the First Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Department (general cooperation issues) of the Russian Foreign Ministry. In 1999- 2002, he was Director of the Fourth CIS Department (Abkhazia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, South Ossetia) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. In 2002-2008, he was working in Russian Embassies and Permanent Missions abroad, including in 2002-2004 as an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Slovakia, and in 2004-2008 as a Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna, Austria. In 2008-2011, he was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In 2011-2018, H.E. Borodavkin was Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
