Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Kazakhstan (2018-present). In 1993-1997, he was Minister-Counselor, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to UN ESCAP at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Thailand. In 1998-1999, he took the post of Deputy Director of the First Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. In 1999-2002, he was Director of the Fourth CIS Department (South Caucasus) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. In 2002-2008, he was working at Russian embassies and permanent missions abroad, including in 2002-2004 as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Slovakia (Bratislava), and in 2004-2008 as Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation (OSCE) in Europe (Vienna, Austria). In 2008-2012, he was Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In 2012-2018, Ambassador Borodavkin was Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and Permanent Representative to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva.
