PhD in History. An award-winning international journalist and author, TV presenter, head of Sergey Brilev’s Studio with TV channels Russia-1 and Russia-24, President of the Bering-Bellingshausen Institute (Uruguay) and the Global Energy Prize Association. In 1990-1993, he was a correspondent of Komsomolskaya Pravda and Moscow News newspapers; and Moscow Correspondent for Radio El Mundo and La Razon (Argentina) and El Observador Económicoand La República (Uruguay). Since 1995 he has been a war correspondent (Chechnya, Northern Ireland, Kuwait), a London correspondent, a news presenter, and his own studio’s head with Russia-1 and Russia-24 TV channels. Interviewed such personalities as Tony Blair, George Bush, David Cameron, Hugo Chávez, Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Johnson, John Kerry, Henry Kissinger, Emmanuel Macron, Dmitry Medvedev, Evo Morales, Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin, Dilma Rouseff, Julio Sanguinetti, Nicolas Sarkozy, Xi Jinping, etc. Since 2022 he has once again switched to covering Latin America. Outside of Russia his documentaries have been premiered and broadcast in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay, etc. He is a member of such Russia’s nongovernmental organizations as the Academy of Russian Television, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Council for Foreign and Defense Policy (SVOP). An honorary citizen of Montevideo, he has a number of professional awards, including the TEFI award in the nominations Best News Presenter and Best Information and Analytical Programme and special awards from Honduras, Mexico, Spain, etc.
