

PhD in Political Science. PIR Center Advisory Board member (since 2015). Currently professor and leading Research Fellow. Dr. Safranchuk has been affiliated with the MGIMO University since 2003. In 1997-2001, he was a Research Fellow and the Director of the Nuclear Arms Control Program at PIR Center. From 2001 to 2006, he held the position of the Director of the Russian Office of the International Center for Defense Information, which was later renamed the World Security Institute, Washington DC, USA. In 2006-2008, he was an Advisor to the World Security Institute and the international project Global Zero. In 2011-2014, he was Deputy Head of the Institute of Contemporary International Studies of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Author of more than 50 scientific and methodological papers in Russian and more than 20 scientific papers in foreign languages published in Russia, USA, Great Britain, Germany, Italy, China, Norway, and Sweden. He is a Member of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy (SVOP) and Valdai Discussion Club. Professor of the Academy of Military Sciences.
