Ilya graduated with honors from the Department of Information Security, Faculty of Informatics and Operating Systems at Bauman Moscow State Technical University. He is the founder of GroupIB, the Russia leader in investigating computer crimes and incidents. He has been the head of the company since 2003. Ilya is a member of a number of international associations, including the International Information Systems Forensics Association (IISFA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the Honeynet Project. Additionally, Ilya is a board member at the Russian Information Systems Security Professional Association (RISSPA), the RAEC Committee on Cybercrime, State Duma expert committees, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE in cybercrime. He is also a member of the judging panel for the ZUBR Prize (Strengthening Security in Russia). In 2010, he became the first Russian laureate of the Digital Сrimes Consortium’s international conference prize for his contributions to the international exchange of best practices in computer criminal investigations. He was a Member of the PIR Center EKS Working Group on International Information Security and Global Internet Governance.
