Born on February 4, 1957.

In 1979, Dmitri D. Yakushkin graduated from the School of International Journalism of MGIMO University. In 1979–1986, he worked in the International Department of the newspaper “Komsomolskaya Pravda”. In 1986–1990, he was the Head of the regional office of the “Novosti” (“News”) Press Agency in France and own correspondent of the “Moskovskie Novosti” (“Moscow news”) newspaper in France. In 1990–1995, he was a columnist, member of the Editorial Board of the newspaper “Moskovskiye Novosti”. In 1995–1997, he was an author and presenter of the journalistic program “Dvoinoi Portret” (“Double portrait”, VGTRK). Since 1997, he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Russian magazine “GEO”. In 1997–1998, he was the presenter of the daily political program “Podrobnosti” (“Details”, VGTRK). In 1998–2000, he was the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Boris N. Yeltsin. In 2000, he was appointed the Assistant to the Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation. In 2001–2002, he was a Member of the Board of MDM Bank. In 2002, he took the position of the Executive Director of the US–Russia Business Council. Since 2006, he has worked as GR-Director of Highland Gold Mining company.

Dmitri D. Yakushkin is a major specialist in the field of mass media, public relations, as well as the problems of democratization of society. He has extensive experience in journalistic and analytical activities. Since November 2018, he has been engaging only in teaching as a professor at HSE University.
