MOSCOW. DECEMBER 10, 2024. PIR PRESS. «I presented a program for the development of PIR Center for 2025-2026 at the annual meeting of the PIR Center Executive Board. The Board adopted my proposals for reforming the structure of PIR Center. The amendments came into force on December 2. The annual meeting of the PIR Center Executive Board, the highest management body of PIR Center, was held. The event was attended by Lieutenant-General (retired) Evgeny Buzhinskiy, Chairman of the PIR Center Executive Board; Mr. Sergey Demin, Regional Director, Rosatom International Network in East Asia; Dr. Vadim Kozyulin, Chief Researcher of the Center for Global Studies and International Relations at the ICIS, Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Consultant, PIR Center; Lieutenant General (retired) Vasily Lata, Chief Research Fellow, Peter the Great Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces; Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Founder and Director, PIR Center; Ms. Lubov Soldatkina, Head of the Department for Patriotic Work and Interaction with Public Organizations, State Foundation “Defenders of the Fatherland”; Dr. Ekaterina Stepanova, Head of the Group on Peace and Conflict Studies, Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS); Dr. Dmitri Trenin, Leading Researcher at the Section for Non-Proliferation and Arms Limitation of the Center for International Security, Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS); Dr. Alexander Fedorov, Associate Professor, Department of Information Security, Faculty of Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Control Systems, Bauman Moscow State Technical University; and Dr. Elena Chernenko, Special Correspondent of the Kommersant Daily.
During the official part of the meeting, Dr. Vladimir Orlov presented the main results of PIR Center’s activities in 2023-2024 and introduced the organization’s development program for 2025-2026. The main outcome of the meeting was the unanimous election of Dr. Vladimir Orlov as Director of PIR Center for another five-year term, on the initiative of Lieutenant-General (retired) Evgeny Buzhinskiy, Chairman of the PIR Center Executive Board. Dr. Vladimir Orlov’s proposals for reforming the organization, which he founded in 1994, were adopted unanimously by the Board.
Dr. Vladimir Orlov wrote in his personal Telegram channel (“Sobesednik-na-Piru”) after the meeting (in Russian): “I am grateful to the members of the PIR Center Executive Board for their trust. Words of special thanks to Lieutenant-General Evgeny Buzhinskiy, who has been the Chairman of the Board for the last ten years. We have preserved everything we have grown! And multiplied.”.
The PIR Center Executive Board approved the “Report on the activities of PIR Center” for 2023, the financial report of the organization for 2023, the financial plan (estimate) for 2024, the Auditor’s Act for 2023, and appointed the Auditor.
As per tradition, the official part was followed by a dinner for the PIR Center Executive Board members and special guests of its regular meeting at the restaurant “Bakinskiy Dvorik.” During the dinner, participants honored those who, 30 years ago, in 1994, were at the origins of PIR Center and were present at the Board meeting: Dr. Vadim Kozyulin and Dr. Vladimir Orlov. They also toasted the well-being of other colleagues who were at the origins of PIR Center: Dmitry Evstafiev, Alexey Zakharov, Ildar Akhtamzyan, Lyudmila Balandina, Elena Bokova, Ekaterina Shkolnik, and others. The dinner participants also commemorated those members of the Board who are no longer with us, but whom all PIR Community members remember and honor: Roland Timerbaev, Yuri Ryzhov, Evgeny Maslin, and Vyacheslav Trubnikov.
