Feedback on the Security Index Yearbook 2024-2025 Global Edition

On June 27, 2024, Zvenigorod, a charming ancient Russian town one hour West of Moscow, filled with churches and historical artifacts, hosted the first global launch of the Security Index Yearbook 2024-2025 Global Edition, co-published in English by MGIMO and PIR Center.

PIR Center has been continuously collecting feedback on the Security Index Yearbook, which we are pleased to share with you!

This handbook is a unique analytical endeavor coming out at a remarkable time. On the one hand, the Western part of the world is hell-bent on demonizing or keeping quiet about Russia’s foreign, defense, and security policies, trying to portray it as the bête noire of international relations and silencing the voices of impartial Russian experts in the worst traditions of suppressing dissent. On the other hand, ironically, the demand for informed discussions of international security issues related to Russia and its policies runs as high as ever. People in the West, and particularly across the large non-Western communities that make up the Global Majority, are keen to understand Russia’s line of reasoning, its interests, and its perception of security.

Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Editor-in-Chief of the Security Index Yearbook, PIR Center Founding Director,
Professor at MGIMO University, notes in the Introduction to the Security Index Yearbook

The publication of the PIR Center’s Security Index Yearbook in cooperation with MGIMO University seems particularly relevant in the current challenging circumstances. I hope this publication will find its readers interested both in the international expert-analytical community and among diplomats, politicians, and officials preparing practical solutions in the security field.

Dr. Andrey Kortunov, Academic Director of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC),
member of PIR Center Advisory Board, the author of the Security Index Yearbook

The Security Index Yearbook is unique in its format and value of information. Thanks to the quality of its analyses, the Yearbook enables public and private sector professionals to improve their knowledge of global security. Security Index Yearbook is an excellent source of information for French civil servants since it provides a different point of view from what is officially said in France.

Mr. Philippe Grinenberger (France), Chairman of the Association of French-Speaking Students in Moscow

The Security Index Yearbook, with its comprehensive and insightful analysis, is vital for understanding the current security challenges that affect our global community. The authors’ in-depth research and clear writing style make this book informative and engaging for readers. The book is very useful for the international expert community to gain a deeper understanding of Russian perspectives on various security matters.

Ms. Laura Szilagyi (Hungary), a Participant of the XXIII International School on Global Security

The Security Index Yearbook is a serious compilation of academic papers. This book is devoted to contemporary challenges to international security and strategic stability and their analysis. Among the authors of the Yearbook are leading Russian specialists: PhDs and doctors with vast experience. I would like to express my special gratitude for publishing the Yearbook to the entire team of PIR Center specialists, especially Editor-in-Chief Dr. Vladimir Orlov and Executive Editor Ms. Elena Karnaukhova.

Mr. Azim Vakhidov (Tajikistan), a Participant of the XXIII International School on Global Security

The Security Index Yearbook is an indispensable reference work in the field of international security.
