PIR Center Is 28 Years Old!

April 30, 2022

So, April 30th has come. Let’s take a look at the calendar: International Jazz Day, the inauguration of the first president of the United States, the birthday of the Czech satirical writer Jaroslav Hašek, the Swedish king Carl XVI Gustaf, Philipp Kirkorov…

But the most important thing for us today is the birthday of our beloved PIR Center! Today we are turning 28 years old. In 1994, an independent and unparalleled institute in the field of international security was born, which today has every reason to be proud of. Today PIR Center is:

  • consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the status of a socially oriented non-profit organization in Russia (social’no orientirovannye nekommercheskie organizacii, SONKO);
  • a unique international educational platform for young professionals;
  • the first Russian NGO paper series to focus on global security and nuclear nonproliferation;
  • the first international Master’s program in nonproliferation;
  • long-standing ties with leading domestic and foreign research institutions, government and non-government experts;
  • a wide range of scientific, organizational, consulting, and educational activities aimed at strengthening the role and place of the Russian expert community in the world and defending Russia’s national interests at the international level.

And as Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said, “PIR Center is one of the organizations that provides a high, world-class level of political research on key issues, and in this sense, supports the bar of our official part, let’s say, the foreign policy elite, and unofficial, at the proper level.”

The situation in the world and the country requires us to make new progress. Full speed ahead!

P.S. We remind you that in honor of our birthday, we are giving away our recently published monograph. Don’t forget to take part on Twitter.
