The Most Valuable Thing In Life Is A Person

November 29, 2021

MOSCOW. NOVEMBER 29, 2021. PIR PRESS. “In youth, it is especially important to be attentive to yourself and your life. After all, it is at this time that the foundation, the framework of the entire future life of a person is laid. As one Dagestan proverb says, “The most valuable thing in life is a person.” This saying has a very important meaning,” Lyudmila Balandina, correspondent and editor of the first issues of the journal Yaderny Kontrol.

EDITORIALNovember 15 is the birthday of our journal Yaderny Kontrol: it was on this day in 1994 that its first issue was published. A day named “Rhino Day” in honor of the unchanging symbol of Security Index, which replaced Yaderny Kontrol. Why a rhinoceros after all? Despite their apparent invulnerability, three out of five rhinoceros species are on the verge of extinction – a security paradox. Therefore, on this special day, Lyudmila Nikolaevna Balandina is our guest – a person who was with PIR Center when the organization was still in its infancy in the distant autumn of 1994. Lyudmila Nikolaevna is a veteran of Yaderny Kontrol, who stood at the origins of this publication when she was only 20 years old. But already at such a young age, she was a correspondent and editor of the journal. Now Lyudmila Nikolaevna is fond of literature and journalism. She is the author of numerous children’s stories, an expert in Russian and foreign proverbs and sayings. Our guest told us how the Yaderny Kontrol journal was born and what difficulties she had to face at the very beginning of the journey, shared with us her experience working at PIR Center in the 1990s, as well as current hobbies and favorite books.
