The PIR Center seminar on the “Rebellious days. (September 21 — October 4, 1993). Vladimir Orlov recalls” will occur in frames of the Midweek Brainstorming Sessions

On September 21, 2023, PIR Center will hold an informal seminar on the “Rebellious days. (September 21 — October 4, 1993). Vladimir Orlov recalls” in frames of the Midweek Brainstorming Sessions.

The Constitutional Crisis in modern Russia culminated from September 21 to October 4, 1993. The tensions between the supporters of Russian President Boris Yeltsin and the Russian parliament accompanied the use of military forces, mass shootings, and hostilities on the streets of Moscow. It ended up with the attack on the House of Soviets.

Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Founding Director of PIR Center, who was a correspondent of the newspaper Moscow News then, will share his memories of the 1993 October Coup with the participants of the seminar. The seminar will continue the discussions held in August 2021, dedicated to the 1991 August Coup and the 30th Anniversary of the transition of the Soviet Union’s nuclear weapons to Russia. This webinar was one of the events that ushered in the launching of the PIR Center project Oral History of Nuclear Nonproliferation.

The PIR Center seminar on the “Rebellious days. (September 21 — October 4, 1993). Vladimir Orlov recalls” will take place online on September 21 (Thursday) from 5 to 6:30 p.m. (Moscow time) via Microsoft Teams.
