Dr Baykov is an expert in comparative regionalism; international relations in East Asia; political aspects of post-Soviet development; political anthropology (PhD in Political Science, 2009). He has authored and co-authored over 50 scholarly articles in refereed journals, more than 10 books; he regularly publishes in Russia’s nation-wide newspapers. He has edited more than 5 collective volumes.

Director of Master’s Studies, MGIMO University (2012-2016); Vice President for Graduate and International Programs, MGIMO University (2016-2020); Dean, School of International Relations, MGIMO University (since 2019). Since August 2020 he has been Vice President for Research.

Achievements: First Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences (“Comparative Integration”) (2013); the Donald Robertson Award, International Studies Association (2013); Member of the Executive Board of the Russian Political Science Association; Director of the Academic Educational Forum on International Relations, a Russian NGO committed to promoting newest IR methodology and best teaching practices across Russian and the CIS countries; Member of the Bureau of the Youth Council on Education and Science Policy under the President of the Russian Federation; Honorary Professor of Jilin University (China); Visiting Professor, Henley Business School (UK); Member, International Advisory Board, European Cluster of Excellence “Contestations of the Liberal Script” (Germany).
