ideas and opinions, and the connection of individuals with the aim of creating an

The map of the world we live in today, which emerges from the Security Index
Yearbook’s illustrious research, is undoubtedly that of a chaotic world undergoing
significant change, transitioning from one order to a new one.
The different regions of the world are gaining increasing importance and
autonomy, to the detriment of an old “center-periphery” system, new poles are
becoming more relevant, thus shifting global balances.
This transformation can be compared to that resulting from the European discovery
of the Americas, which led to centuries of oceanic powers, to the disadvantage of
the centrality of the Mediterranean Sea and the disconnection of the various plates
of which consists the Eurasian supercontinent.
Today, humanity undoubtedly faces unprecedented challenges, excellently
analyzed in the Security Index Yearbook by the authors: technological revolutions
that daily change the way we conceive of our capabilities and what surrounds us,
the importance of cooperation in multiple fields between different regions and
countries, the rise of institutions and organizations for the mutually beneficial
governance of the world’s regions, the need to find common ground to ensure
common security that can lead to the prosperity of the peoples who inhabit our
continents.
In my opinion, a key theme is the emerging awareness of the indivisibility of
