MOSCOW. OCTOBER 10, 2024. PIR PRESS. The highlight of Russia’s BRICS chairmanship will be the summit in Kazan, which will take place from October 22 to 24, 2024. The slogan of Russia’s BRICS “watch” in 2024 is “Strengthening Multilateralism for Fair Global Development and Security.” However, while “development” is almost synonymous with BRICS, the role of security issues on the group’s agenda raises some questions. Where precisely do the positions of the member states align? Where can they successfully cooperate without undermining the positive, consensus-based atmosphere developed within the group in recent years?
These issues will be discussed on October 15, 2024, at the PIR Center’s Midweek Brainstorming Session. The keynote address on “International Security Issues in BRICS Agenda: Nonproliferation and Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy” will be delivered by Mr. Sviatoslav A. Arov, PIR Center Research Fellow – Executive Assistant to Director.
In his speech, Mr. Sviatoslav A. Arov will also present the key findings of the PIR Center’s Report, “International Security Issues in BRICS Agenda. Overview and Policy Recommendations,” published in July 2024 in both Russian and English.
The event will be held on October 15 from 17:30 to 19:00 (Moscow time) online via the Yandex Telemost platform.
The language of the event is Russian.
Registration via the link (in Russian) is required to participate (the deadline is October 14, 2024).
For any questions regarding participation, don’t hesitate to contact Mr. Sviatoslav A. Arov, PIR Center Research Fellow – Executive Assistant to Director, at arov@pircenter.org.
