April 19, 2020, was the 70th birthday of Evgeny P. Buzhinsky, a prominent person in the field of international security, one of the most experienced Russian military diplomats and experts. For more than 40 years, Gen. Buzhinsky’s career was associated with the service of the Armed Forces of our country. Currently, he is much in demand in the field of public diplomacy, analysis, and in training of a new generation of experts in the field of international relations.
Today, Evgeny P. Buzhinsky is the Chairman of the PIR Center’s Executive Board, Co-Chairman of the Trialogue Club International, Vice President of the Russian International Affairs Council, head of the PIR Center’s lecture course on arms control at the dual-degree MA Program on Nonproliferation Studies, Head of the Center for Applied Political and Military Studies of the School of World Politics of Lomonosov Moscow State University.
The PIR Center team is proud that for more than 10 years we have had an opportunity to call Evgeny Buzhinsky our senior colleague and mentor, to work together on the most complex issues of arms control, nonproliferation and the entire structure of international security. We are gratified at the active work with young specialists at the PIR Center School and in the framework of the MA Program in Nonproliferation Studies and at all other areas, and we are very grateful for a tremendous contribution to to the PIR Center’s activities.

Evgeny P. Buzhinskiy was born in 1950.
Graduated from the Military Institute, M.V. Frunze Military academy. Ph.D. Military Sciences since 2008.
From 1976 to 1992 – served in different positions as officer of the General Staff. Honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant-General.
From 1992 to 2009 – served in positions of: Senior Officer, Deputy Head of Direction, Head of Direction, Deputy Head of Department, Head of Department of the International Treaty Directorate of the Main Department of International Military Cooperation of the Russian Ministry of Defense. In 2002 he was appointed on the position of Head of the International Treaty Directorate – Deputy Head of the Main Department of International Military Cooperation of the Russian Federation Ministry of Defense.
From 2009 to 2015 – PIR Center Consultant, then Senior Vice President. Lecturer of International School on Global Security since 2010, lecturer of PIR Center and MGIMO University Joint Module “WMD Nonproliferation and International Security” since 2013. PIR Center’s Chairman of the Executive Board since 2014. Vice President of Russian International Affairs Council.. Co-Chair of the Trialogue Club International.
General Buzhinsly’s research and alalutical areas of interest include political and military aspects of international security, nonproliferation of nuclear weapons, issues of military cooperation, Russia-NATO relations, U.S.-Russia relations, military uses of the outer space, European security.
