On November 16, 2023, PIR Center will hold an expert seminar on the topic “High-Tech Renaissance in Sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges and Opportunities for Russia”.
For a long time, Africa, especially the Sub-Saharan African countries, have been considered lagging actors in world politics and have hardly been associated with high-tech industries. However, as the milestones of world history shift, the region’s role is also being shifted. The Sub-Saharan African states are now perceived not only as a sandbox for superpowers but also as trendsetters striving for independence in the market of advanced solutions.
In the face of such dramatic changes, the consequences of the High-Tech Renaissance in the region disturb the minds of not only those living in Africa but in other regions too.
Mr. Leonid Tsukanov, Consultant of the PIR Center’s Global & Regional Security: New Ideas for Russia Program, will present the results of his research on the potential of the Sub-Saharan African States in high-tech, as well as the prospects for cooperation with Russia in the field.
The Midweek Brainstorming Session on the topic “High-Tech Renaissance in Sub-Saharan Africa: Challenges and Opportunities for Russia” will take place on November 16 (Thursday) from 05:00 to 06:30 p.m. (Moscow Time Zone, GMT +3) via Microsoft Teams in Russian.
To take part in the seminar, you need to fill in the registration form at the link till November 14, 2023.
The research has been done in frames of implementing the PIR Center and MGIMO University joint project “Global Security, Strategic Stability, and Arms Control” under the auspices of the Priority-2030 Strategic Academic Leadership Program.
