№ 35 (83), 2026. The 130th Session of the Trialogue Club International held on the Margins of the XXIV International School on Global Security in Zvenigorod

MOSCOW. JULY 13, 2026. On 8 July, 2026 on the margins of the XXIV International School on global security the Trialogue Club International held its summer session (the 130th since the Club’s founding in 1993) on the topic “Russia in a Time of Global Uncertainty and Geopolitical Rivalry: Challenges, Strategic Choices, and Foreign Policy Opportunities”.

Dr. Vladimir Orlov, Founding Director of PIR Center, Founding President of the Trialogue Club International, delivered opening remarks, outlined the latest news and future plans of the Club and PIR Center together with launch of the Security Index Yearbook Global Edition 2026-2027 Volume 2.

During the session two panel discussions were held. The first was on topic “Russia and Global Security Challenges”, keynote speeches were delivered by Dr Dmitry Trenin, President of RIAC, Member of PIR Center Executive Board, Scientific Director of the Institute of Military Economics and Strategy, National Research University Higher School of Economics, and Dr Dmitry Stefanovich, Researcher at the Military Economics and Innovation Sector of the IMEMO RAS Center for International Security, member of PIR Center Advisory Board. The experts assessed Russia’s international positioning in the era of global confrontation and growing threats and discussed the strategic military aspects of the current security situation.

The second panel discussion was devoted to the topic “Regional Security and Russia’s Interests”, where the main speakers were Amb. Marat Berdiyev, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Group of Twenty, APEC and GEP, member of PIR Center Advisory Board and Dr Andrey Kortunov, expert, Valdai International Discussion Club, member of PIR Center Advisory Board. Special attention was paid to the economic aspects of global and regional security, particularly in the context of the G20, GEP and APEC. The prospects for developing Russian-American relations in today’s world were also discussed.

Following the keynote remarks, a traditional Q&A session ensued. The discussions were moderated by Gen-Leut. (ret.) Evgeny Buzhinskiy, Co-Chair of the Trialogue Club International, Chairman of PIR Center Executive Board. As always, the meeting of the Trialogue Club International was under Chatham House rules, except from opening remarks and launch of the Security Index Yearbook Global Edition 2026-2027 Volume 2 by Founding Director of PIR Center, Founding President of the Trialogue Club International.

The session was attended by the ambassadors of Brazil, Pakistan and Ireland, senior diplomats, businessmen, experts and young professionals from 20 countries and 2 international organizations, as well as participants of the XXIV International school on global security.

Following the official part of the event, the Club members and special guests of the President of the Club were invited to informal communications over cocktails.
