Today is the birthday of Vladimir Orlov, Founder and Director of PIR Center, Founder and President of the Trialogue Club International, Professor at MGIMO University.
PIR Center team and friends send their congratulations to Vladimir Orlov on this special day!
Dear Vladimir Andreevich! I congratulate you on your birthday! I wish you successful accomplishments at PIR Center for the benefit of Russia! May your unquenchable energy be embodied in new ideas and projects, and may the work of PIR Center flourish! May there be more bright moments ahead, and may every day bring new victories, both in the professional sphere and in your personal life. Health, energy, and only the very best of events!

Dear Vladimir Andreevich, Volodya! You are an absolutely unique person. The founder of one of the first and – to this day – most respected think tanks in the country. One of the most brilliant, world-class Russians. A journalist, a foreign policy thinker, and a subtle diplomat. A professor and the head of an international club. A man of fantastic erudition and colossal energy. A traveler who has walked, driven, and flown all across the Earth. The head of a wonderful family, a tender husband, and a loving father. The brain and the soul of the team. A Russian patriot. I could go on for a long time, but the format of a brief birthday wish doesn’t allow it. For those of us lucky enough to have met you many years – or rather, several decades – ago, every new meeting with you is a pure pleasure. It is a feast for the soul, a feast for the mind, and just a true celebration. We wish you a wonderful birthday, a chance to look back at the achievements of the past year, and to receive tons of congratulations and heaps of gifts – while remaining just as optimistic, realistic, and ironic as always. Moving forward, keep taking big strides through life, thinking big, daring, and rejoicing in your achievements. The most important and the best, as usual, is yet to come. A big hug and a warm handshake! Vera sends her kisses. Warmest regards to Tatyana.
Today is the birthday of Vladimir Andreevich Orlov. Of Volodya Orlov. We have known each other, it seems, for an entire eternity. More than thirty years. How much has been talked over, discussed, argued through. Yet always, whenever one meets my friend Volodya, there is certain to be something still to be discussed, something still to be argued about. It is a great rarity to have as a friend a person of such depth and substance. What should one wish? And what can one wish a man who has fulfilled himself, who has succeeded in everything? A man possessed simultaneously of status and reputation, which in the present times is a great rarity. New ideas, elegant projects, good and loyal students. But I will say one more thing: I wish to wish Vladimir Andreevich the preservation of that optimism which was inherent in him even in the most difficult years. Difficult years for everyone: both for him personally and for the PIR Center he founded – in truth, one of the most “mature” research centers specializing in international security – and for the country. Happy birthday, Volodya! Happy birthday, dear Vladimir Andreevich!
Dear Vladimir Andreyevich, Almost ten years ago, your life path, in the most literal sense, took you across the vast expanses of our beautiful country and brought you to a certain Siberian nuclear town where I happened to be working at the time. Years go by, but with every passing day, I become more and more convinced that our meeting there, on the soil of Angarsk, was truly fateful! It marked the beginning of my involvement in fascinating PIR Center projects. Taking part in them today is a great honor for me and, without a doubt, a profound responsibility. Today, from the bottom of my heart, I wish you a very happy birthday! I sincerely wish you, my dear friend, colleague, and mentor, to keep moving tirelessly forward. It is hard to be the best at what you do, but you succeed in doing so despite all the difficulties and hurdles. With God’s help and alongside PIR Alumni Community, I wish you to overcome each and every one of them!
Dear Vladimir Andreevich, From the bottom of my heart, I wish you a very happy birthday. Thirty years of friendship and collaboration bind us together through the PIR Center you founded. Moscow and Geneva, New York and Zvenigorod—everywhere we went, we always had so much to talk about, so much to discuss, and so much to contribute together, in full harmony, to the cause of international security. I have always admired your energy and your constant readiness to press forward, whether in theoretical research, teaching, travel, or exploring new physical and political horizons. Though the very concept of a “horizon” hardly applies to you: without being a career diplomat, you participated in major international events and earned an award from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; without being a professional geographer, you traveled around the world. And you left remarkable literary footprints of both. What is especially important for all of us – and likely for the world as a whole – is that you created the “PIR Planet.” You built a community of like-minded colleagues, followers, young scientists, seasoned diplomats, and leaders of research centers and government agencies, whose collective contribution to nonproliferation is invaluable. I truly hope that destiny grants you many more years to continue your outstanding work. Once again, happy birthday, and I wish you good health and every success in your future endeavors.
Dear Volodya, Please accept my heartfelt birthday wishes! Despite your multi-faceted talent and significant professional achievements, you remain just as young and energetic as your students, to whom you pass on your knowledge and experience, inspiring them with your “atomic” energy! I sincerely wish you good health, great luck, and true harmony – both within yourself and in your relationships with loved ones!

Dear Volodya! Warmest wishes on your birthday! I wish you good health, peace of mind, happiness, prosperity, and renewed strength for everything you set out to achieve. May you always be surrounded by those closest to you, loyal friends, and happy occasions, and may each new year bring joy, inspiring encounters, and many reasons to feel proud. Thank you for your friendship, your reliability, and the student years we shared. May everything in your life unfold exactly as you wish!

Dear Volodya, I congratulate you on your birthday! I wish you, in our turbulent and unpredictable world, to always remain the same reliable and solid island of stability both for your wonderful family and for the entire PIR community. And, of course, heroic health, good fortune, and more time for yourself. I greatly value our friendship and collaboration. A warm embrace!

Dear Dr. Orlov, Happy birthday! I wish you plenty of energy, interesting challenges, and people around you who make it a pleasure to work together and move forward. It is always a delight to see you as someone who knows his field inside out, is able to stand by his position calmly and confidently, while remaining open to new ideas. May there be more professional opportunities that spark your interest than routine tasks, and may you have enough time outside work for the things you genuinely enjoy. Wishing you good health, a great mood, and every success in your new endeavors!
Dear Vladimir Andreevich! I cordially congratulate you on your birthday! I believe I’ve always been lucky with my bosses: they’ve been demanding, inspiring, and professionally astute. This luck started with you – and I’m glad that our dialogue has been going on for many years since. The most important things have already been said to you today by your loved ones and family. I join in these congratulations and add: PIR must go on. Yours, S. Semenov

Therefore, first and foremost, I would like to thank you for what you do for young people, for the formats you devise, and for the new ideas you bring to fruition. A separate expression of gratitude for your support of the PIR community and for providing people with differing views, cast of mind, and professional experience the opportunity to realize their potential. It is a great privilege to be part of PIR Center, and I am sincerely grateful to you for the opportunities that you personally and the organization afford to young scholars.
