№ 39 (87) 2026. The Deadline for Submitting Documents for Admission to the MA Program International Security by MGIMO and PIR Center is August 1

MOSCOW. JULY 27, 2026. PIR-PRESS. The deadline for submitting documents for admission to the joint MA by MGIMO and PIR Center «International Security» is drawing to a close. Acceptance of documents ends on August 1.

The MA Program International Security is an educational program conducted jointly by MGIMO University and PIR Center aimed at training professionals in high demand within foreign policy institutions. It is intended for students from both Russia and foreign countries. There are 4 places in the program, funded from state budget.

At the end of April during an Open Day for this Master’s Program, the main conditions related to admission were highlighted. On June 25, 2026, MGIMO University hosted the graduation of the first cohort from the MA Program. This inaugural graduation marked a major milestone in the development of this educational track, confirming the high demand for a format that seamlessly combines fundamental academic preparation with active engagement in practical expert work.

A grant competition named after Vyacheslav Trubnikov is held for master’s degree students. The winner of the grant competition gets the opportunity to pay full tuition for the second, third and fourth semesters. More detailed information about the contest is available via the link.

The curriculum of the the program includes a block of compulsory disciplines and elective courses so that each student can build an educational schedule in accordance with interests and needs within the framework of professional development.

The program’s students focus on a wide range of current issues in the field of international security. In particular, the relevant disciplines are devoted to issues of strategic stability, arms control, including in outer space. In addition, students can choose electives from a large number of courses offered, including courses that are very relevant today on artificial intelligence and its role in international security, chemical and biological weapons issues, and open source data intelligence (OSINT).

Through PIR Center, students are involved in various educational activities: expert discussions, debates, educational schools, and online courses. It is especially important that all students take part in a series of Midweek Brainstorming Sessions – a platform for expert discussion of acute and fundamental problems of global security.
