Prospects of the Russian-Chinese Dialogue on Global Security, Nuclear Nonproliferation, and Arms Control

The reason for singling out Chinese defense policy research as a separate area was the need for a comprehensive and balanced assessment of China’s military and strategic capabilities from the perspective of Russian interests in the light of new security threats and the search for ways to strengthen Russian-Chinese relations in general.

In 2021, two research papers were prepared on the role of nuclear forces in the context of Chinese Leader Xi Jinping’s ideological and political approaches and China’s hypersonic and strategic non-nuclear weapons capabilities.

In general, the project aims to hold and develop a Russian-Chinese expert dialogue on the military-strategic situation in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) and assessments of threats to the nuclear nonproliferation regime.
