PIR Center sums up the results of expanding PIR Center Advisory Board in 2021-2023

MOSCOW. SEPTEMBER 15, 2023. PIR PRESS. “In 2021-2022, we pursued an active policy of expanding PIR Center Advisory Board. We are continuing this work in 2023. In the meantime, PIR Center team welcomes all members of our renewed Advisory Board: all those who have been with our organization since its foundation; all those who joined the Advisory Board in the following years; all those who became part of it in 2021-2023. PIR Center Advisory Board, established in 1995, today plays a crucial role in the organization’s project activities. It brings together more than ninety leading international specialists and major research centers. Among the experts are representatives of think tanks and research centers, government agencies and business structures, as well as public figures and journalists from Russia and foreign countries. Based on collective membership, the Advisory Board includes 10 research institutes working in the field of global security. The geographical composition of PIR Center Advisory Board currently covers such countries as Argentina, Brazil, China, Egypt, Germany, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Norway, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the USA.

Members of PIR Center Advisory Board participate in expert seminars at the PIR Center’s Midweek Brainstorming Sessions as speakers or commentators, take part in the PIR Center’s International School on Global Security as instructors, provide advisory support to PIR Center research fellows and interns in the preparation of research papers, and act as reviewers. They possess brilliant expertise on a wide range of international relations and global security issues. They are bright personalities with fascinating personal and professional life experiences.

PIR Center started renewing its Advisory Board in 2021. From 2021 to 2023, more than 20 new experts from Russia and foreign countries joined PIR Center Advisory Board.

Among the new members of PIR Center Advisory Board are representatives of the national diplomacy, in particular, Oleg Ozerov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Ambassador-at-Large, Head of the Secretariat of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum; Oleg Stepanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Canada, as well as commercial structures, namely Gleb Efremov, General Director of the International Uranium Enrichment Centre.

PIR Center Advisory Board was joined by, among others, highly qualified foreign specialists who have worked for many years in public service and diplomacy and now continue their work in the field of research, journalism and publishing: Sergio Duarte, Ambassador, President of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs, Belo Horizonte, Brazil; Nabil Fahmy, Foreign Minister of Egypt in 2013-2014, Dean Emeritus of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy of the American University in Cairo, Egypt; Dayan Jayatilleka, Ambassador (retired), Senior Advisor on International Relations to the Leader of the Opposition, Columnist of the Daily FT, Colombo, Sri Lanka; Yuri Nazarkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (retired), Professor and Honorary Doctor (honoris causa) of the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, Geneva, Switzerland; Bruno Russi, Colonel (retired), Former Swiss Defence Attaché, currently independent analyst, Andermatt, Switzerland; Viktor Slipchenko, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy (retired), Former Expert of the UN Security Council on nonproliferation issues; Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to the Russian Federation in 2018-2021, distinguished fellow of the Vivekananda International Foundation, visiting faculty of Kautilya School of Public Policy, New Delhi, India. All of them have made and continue to make great personal contributions to the development of international cooperation, peace and security.

Renewed PIR Center’s Advisory Board also include prominent Russian and foreign international experts, scholars and researchers, journalists, and figures of scientific and public diplomacy.
